  • Onscreen rate is ‘Rate Number 01 – Standard NY City Rate.’
  • The initial ride charge is 2 dollars 50 cents.
  • Add 50 cents per 200 yards (320 meters) or 50 cents per one minute in traffic jam or when the taxi is stopped.
  • In moving traffic in downtown Manhattan, the meter clicks every 4 blocks, or 1 block going cross town (West-East).
  • Add 50-cent (MTA State Surcharge) for all taxi rides that end in New York City, Westchester, Suffolk, Nassau, Dutchess, Rockland, Putnam or Orange Counties.
  • Add 30-cent "Improvement Surcharge". 
  • You have to add 50 cent surcharge if you use taxi cab from 8pm to 6am.
  • You have to add $1 surcharge if you use taxi cab from from 4pm to 8pm on weekdays (excluding national holidays)
  • Taxi passengers pay all tunnel and bridge tolls.
  • Your will get a receipt that shows your total fare (including tolls).
  • Taxi driver may decline bills over $20.
  • It is up to you to tip your taxi driver or not.
  • Taxi driver does not charge extra for more passengers or bags.

Toll Information

  • Taxi passenger must pay all bridge and tunnel tolls.
  • Using of E-ZPass by taxi driver.
    • A cab driver willl use an E-ZPass when taking a toll bridge and will add the discounted toll amount to the final bill. 

Credit/Debit Cards

  • Passengers may pay for their taxi ride with debit card, prepaid card, credit card or cash.
  • No extra fees (surcharges) will be added if you paying with your credit/debit/prepaid card.

Airport Taxi Trips

  • To LaGuardia Airport & From LaGuardia Airport:
    • This is a metered fare and it is calculation based on distance.
  • To JFK Airport- From JFK Airpot (any location in Manhattan, NYC)
    • Onscreen rate: Rate Number 2 – JFK Airport
    • This is a flat rate of $52 plus extra for tolls, plus the 50 cent MTA State Surcharge, also there is 30-cent Improvement Surcharge, and dont forget to add $4.50 for rush hour surcharge (4 P.M. to 8 P.M. weekdays, excluding holidays).
  • From JFK Airpot to any New York City destinations:
    • This is a metered fare and it is calculation based on distance.
  • Taxi trips to Newark Airport:
    • Onscreen rate: Rate Number 3 – Newark Airport.’
    • This is a metered fare and it is calculation based on distance.
    • Add $17.50 This is a Newark Surcharge.
    • Add a 30-cent Improvement Surcharge. 

Out of Town Trips

  • Westchester & Nassau Counties:
    • Onscreen rate is ‘Rate Number 01 – Standard NY City Rate.’
    • As soon as you cross City limit to Nassau or Westchester, the on-screen rate message should says Rate Number 4 – Out of City Rate to Westchester or Nassau. Cab Rate Number 4 is two times higher than City Rate Number 1.
    • Add a 30-cent Improvement Surcharge
    •  Add a 50-cent MTA State Surcharge
  • Taxi Trips Outside the City:
    • Onscreen rate is ‘Rate Number 05 – Out of City Negotiated Flat Rate’ which means that you have to discuss the price with driver. This is a flat rate.
    • Add a 50-cent MTA State Surcharge if your trip ends in the following counties: Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange or Suffolk.
    • Add a 30-cent Improvement Surcharge. 

Group Ride Information

  • A group of people up to four passengers can take a taxi ride from a yellow taxi Group Ride Stand and pay a flat taxi rate.
  • Group Ride pickup times are from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. From Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).
  • Drop-offs are restricted to the Group Rides route. Onscreen rate is ‘Rate Number 06 – Group Rate.'
